Gena Mark makes art quilts for the wall. She hand dyes cotton and silk fabric to create her own palette of bright colors. She likes to alter traditional textile patterns to create a fractured, visually vibrating surface that requires a second look from the viewer to see all that is happening in the piece. Gena has a Masters of Fine Arts in Textiles from Indiana University. In recognition of artistic excellence she is the recipient of an Emerging Artist Award for 2012 from the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
